Chinese Language & Usage Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for students, teachers, and linguists wanting to discuss the finer points of the Chinese language. It's 100% free, no registration required.

For example:

1.1 The OSGi Service Platform provides the functions to change the composition dynamically on the device of a variety of networks, without requiring a restarts.

I only know the 'of' expresses the meaning of '......的' like 'The pride of her garden was a tulip bed.'

also like why '不同类型的场景' = 'Different types of scenarios' 而不是 'scenarios of different types'

thanks

Isn't this like asking why English speakers say "receiving a treatment" instead of "accepting a treatment" while Chinese speakers say "接受治疗" instead of "接收治疗"? The English language and the Chinese language works differently. You cannot expect to learn one language through mere translation alone. – Question Overflow Oct 25 '12 at 2:51
Shouldn't this kind of question (or a question of this kind, as you've mentioned :) ) be asked in the "English Language and Usage" site instead? – Nihil Oct 25 '12 at 12:51
One big problem is that the first English sentence you have quoted is really bad English. It's clearly not written by a native speaker. – Dan Oct 25 '12 at 15:59
Hi Liam, thanks for your question. Unfortunately this type of question is off topic for the site as it relates to the understanding of English while only using Chinese as a reference. I suggest you refine the question and post it on the English site at english.stackexchange.com – xiaohouzi79 Oct 25 '12 at 19:14
@QuestionOverflow that's an interesting example I've never thought of. I should write it down! :) – NS.X. Oct 25 '12 at 22:15
