My personal opinion is to point to locally produced stuff only. This is because in dubbed versions there is no correspondence between what you hear and mouth movements, and sometimes also with audio/video context. Better to point to Chinese movies/tv shows. – Alenanno Dec 23 '11 at 12:48
What is your Mandarin level like? I've watched a number of different shows and movies, but it's hard to make recommendations without knowing your level. – Ciaocibai Dec 23 '11 at 21:26

One of my favorite cartoons is 喜羊羊与灰太狼 which you can find on Youtube, Youku, Tudou and all the other video sites you can think of. It is a kids cartoon, but pretty entertaining and a good way to learn some new vocab.

喜羊羊与灰太狼

Another TV show which I think is pretty reasonable is 快乐汉语 which I think is aimed squarely at Mandarin learners. You can stream in online from the CNTV website, and there is learning related resources about the show available as well.
