comment What is the difference between 作 and 做?
from my experience, 做 is corresponding to "make" and "do", just like you said: with no remarkable end-product, and 作 is corresponding to "compose(作曲)" "purposefully used as(名词用作动词)" "commit(作恶)" I have to stress, however, in my chinese Pinyin IME, when I type zuo zhun bei, i get "做准备" rather than "作准备"...

comment Measure words for disrespect
"饭桶" is a disrespectful word, and to measure any type of "桶(Bucket)", one never use "位". If your focus is on "measure word", you could use another example like: why "他是一位作家" sounds more respectful than "他是一个作家".

comment “If you say so”: Dismissive agreement
What about this scenario? A: 能不能再加一小时班? 明天绝对不会再让你加班了 (Could you work overtime again for an extra hour? I won't ask you tomorrow, I promise.) B: 既然你已经这么说了,那我还能说什么呢? (If you say so)

comment “If you say so”: Dismissive agreement
BTW(whether my answer is relevant or not): When people speak to me with this feelings, i usually feel disappointed, even frustrated. I sometimes response to my friends in this way, and I tell from their words(after my response) that they also don't like it. :)

To @ZhenchaoJia : please try to use English to revise your answer. Your intellectual effort is recognized: 1. "do not rely too much on a single online resource." 2. "will go on discussing with others." keep your word, my pal. :)

comment Origin of 呆在 vs 待在
我认为 @ZhenchaoJia 的回答中有两点值得称赞的地方: 1. 不满足于"单一的网络信息渠道" 2. "愿意继续探讨" 为何没有给出合宜的答案? 究其原因, 问题看起来简单, 实则需要仔细分析才能理解问题的意思. 我之所以 upvote 这个问题, 是因为它能刺激人思考"为何我以前一直没发现这两个字起源上的区别".

comment Origin of 呆在 vs 待在
abridged text in translation: the 2 Chinese characters are different in meaning, it's not until ming/qing dynasty, did "待" have the meaning of "to stay". it's not until modern/contemporary times, did "呆" have the meaning of "to stay"

Thanks for both of your kind comments! I agree that I did not follow the OP's questions strictly, coz if I don't focus on "acceptance level", but try to follow every "? mark", my answer may be pointless for readers. And I believe others will offer other points of view, if my answer is not relevant enough. :)
