My interests:

Comedy and Art:

I decided back in March/April, 2012 to combine Comedy with Art and start writing/drawing my own comics.

Web Development:

I wanted my own unique place to share these comics, so I started learning PHP to create my own website- Hitting Trees with Sticks.com, which I recently launched. Big thanks to the the Stackoverflow community for all of your guidance and encouragement.

Mandarin Chinese: (Moderator♦ on Chinese SE)

I've also been learning Mandarin Chinese for 6 years and have spent some time over in Taiwan (5 months) and Beijing (2 weeks). I was given the opportunity to provide interpretation for General Electric at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. To give back to StackExchange, I've recently become active in helping out on the Chinese Language and Usage site (http://chinese.stackexchange.com/).

@Stan Understood. Well I lived in Taiwan for 4 months and often heard similar translations there. But let's see what others post. And... 中秋节愉快 :D

@congliu I cannot disclose who. If you'd like, we can discuss this further in chat or you can pose a question on meta.

comment What is the difference between 看不起 and 看不上?
@congliu It is an opinion shared by many Chinese SE users. As I expressed in my comment above, several users have down voted and requested mod support for this reason. Therefore, as a mod, I have added explanation that might clarify why their answers are getting down votes.

@congliu Providing Chinese, pinyin, and English creates a standard that facilitates Q&A for native and non-native Chinese speakers. Moreover, this is a Chinese language learning Q&A site, so you would expect that it would pander to non-native Chinese learners. Several non-native learners have mentioned they would like English explanations, and often down vote if there are none.

Hi user3242. Please provide pinyin and English translation for long Chinese sentences. Most of us on this site are still learning Chinese.

Hi fazhang. Welcome to Chinese SE. When you write Chinese, please provide the pinyin and English translation as not all of us can fluently read Chinese. Thank you

comment How is the 儿 ending pronounced outside Beijing?
I finally thought of the better example-Louisville Kentucky. EVERYONE pronounces Louisville as "Louville".

@congusbongus okay, wasn't aware. based on my experiences in Beijing and outside of Beijing, I've only heard 抠门儿。 Even from Taiwanese who aren't that fond of the 儿化音 (again, also my experience). If you have broader experiences with this, I'm sure Eglik would definitely appreciate your help :)

@StumpyJoePete I had a better one in mind before... but couldn't remember it for the life of me when writing the answer :/ I'll update the question later if I think of it. But I think people can understand the answer with the current example.
