comment How do I say “damn!” or “bloody hell” in Chinese?
@Kabie: Hm, in that case I might stick with 糟糕! :)

If I understood correctly, even though my dictionary says "to f*ck (vulgar)" for 靠, it's not actually a swear word but an exclamation?

I kind of like 哎呀, it seems quite universal, can be applied in any situation!

@Flake: It is! I wonder why is this not in any dictionary I have!

I think I understand what you're saying, we have the same thing in Croatian. However, this is exactly the thing I wanted to avoid, I'd like to get a bit more euphemistic if possible. For example, I like using "blast!", "cor blimey!" and other, more "British" expressions so to speak.

Hm, are you sure about 操 being "damn" or "sht", my dictionary only says "_to fck (vulgar)_"? Doesn't seem like something I'd like to say when my program won't compile!

You definitely may suggest! :) It's amazing how some of these expressions on ChinaSmack are exactly the same as those used in my country. I haven't seen this in any other language (English, German, Italian...)

comment Are there sentences where 跟 and 和 are interchangeable?
Almost the same in meaning, but not exactly the same? Is there some other difference except for the spoken/written difference?

comment What is 和 used for in this sentence?
"The whole meaning" is tricky for beginners like me! :) Related to my other question here, can 和 be replaced with 跟 in your example sentences?

comment What is 和 used for in this sentence?
Did you perhaps mean "Spring festival is similar to how Westerners celebrate Christmas, ..."? It is strange that I cannot find this meaning of 和 in any of my dictionaries!

comment How to differentiate between “On Top” and “Above”
Perhaps one of these is correct: 上边, 以上, or 上面. Let's see if someone will enlighten us! :)
