How can we translate 不是……胜似 into English? @QuestionOverflow Come on, can't we be a little more poetic or at least idiomatic :) |

What's the meaning of 缘分 in English? @Lagoona Every time I want to explain 缘分 or 有缘无分 to a non-native speaker, I just don't know how to start. That's why I am looking for help here. |

What are the connotations of the word 拳拳? I do not agree with the point names of repeating characters are for girls. How about famous names like 薄瓜瓜 and 李禾禾? By the way, I believe 拳拳 is a very good name for guys. |

Why can't 了 be used to complement 到? @xiaohouzi79 You should say 他什么时候到的悉尼 instead. In other words, replace 了 with 的. |

Why can't 了 be used to complement 到? @xiaohouzi79 I guess it has to do with 刚,which in this case means just (arrived). On the other hand, 了 indicates have arrived (complete tense). So I believe you are right, 刚 makes it unnatural. By the way, 他什么时候到了? sounds unnatural to my ears. |

Why can't 了 be used to complement 到? Can you provide some context, e.g., the conversation setting? |

Using 一样 instead of 同一 for “the same school” @xiaohouzi79 Good point, however, I believe the meaning of this sentence is ambiguous. We may prefer to use 同一 to clear the potential ambiguity. |

What is the difference between 总是 and 一直? @jaffa I think both are being used in equally long-term expressions. |
