What's the difference between 学 and 学习? -1: I would avoid citing "etymologies" for characters without a source. There are many specious folk etymologies and character mnemonics masquerading as real etymologies in Chinese learning circles, and, though they may be useful memorization tools, they rarely give insight into the real structure or usage of the language. |

How to translate “你给我滚” properly I agree. I think "给" can be glossed as something like "为 (wèi)" in this sentence if the OP is still unclear about this (common) usage. |
