comment How do we choose the correct characters for a westerner name?
Is this really on-topic? This is subjective, and you could get 100 different responses. Maybe try google.com/search?q=chinese+name+generator

comment What are the most difficult things to learn for a westerner?
I think this is a valid question to ask. Sure, it's a bit subjective, but you could probably use that argument for 90% of the question that get asked on SE sites. It perhaps was a bit ambigous tho, and certainly the title perhaps wasn't phrased very well - I've edited my question accordingly

comment Chinese input on Windows based on pinyin and tones
I don't want to type pinyin to get Chinese characters - I want to type pinyin and get pinyin with tone marks

@drHannibalLecter Ah, but were they Mandarin or Cantonese speakers tho?

comment How do I say “damn!” or “bloody hell” in Chinese?
@drHannibalLecter I've never actually heard anyone British say "cor blimey!" in real life, but I take your point :)

comment How do I say “damn!” or “bloody hell” in Chinese?
A bit off-topic, but being Scottish, 哎呀 is great for me - if I stub my toe or whatever, I already automatically shout 'ai ya!' :) Well, that or something like 'ai ya f**cker!' :D

@Flaw sorry, you've lost me - maybe I'm being a bit dense, but how does this relate to the question?

Hmm, for some reason I can only use the writing pad with English, not Chinese :( (the keyboard icon is greyed out if I select Chinese)

comment Tense and use of 了
Hmm... confusing, but I finally get you :) Is this something very specific to 吃饭了, or is this part of some wider 'rule' on the usage of ?
