comment Are there any online resources for learning Chinese 4-character idioms
@Kraver: I far as a know 独一无二 is a Chengyu, but 一般来说 and 由此可见 are not. Can you refer me to a Chengyu dictionary that has these two as an entry? Maybe jaffa meant that he didn't want any 成语典故 (Chengyus with a classical story), but my original guess was he really didn't want any Chengyu (so actually he should exclude 独一无二).

Some examples that come to mind: 工字 (工字柱), 人字 (人字队), 一字 (一字队). The English forms are also taken over (for example V字领).

comment Usage of 感动 (active/passive?)
@user986080: Yes, you are right. It doesn't sound natural. I'm not really sure whether 这部很感动的电影 is said often, but it sounds more natural to me. What do you think?

Yes, there doesn't seem to be a word for putteteer. Before I've seen people use 操纵木偶的人.

I guess "fellow townsman" and "fellow villager" will be the best what you can get

I guess you are not satisfied with "fellow townsman; fellow villager; sb from the same hometown"? mdbg.net/chindict/…

I think 攀 is the best answer. It's quite highly ranked in all Chinese corpora I know. Characters such as 齉 and 龖 don't show up in any corpus. Here are other such seldomly used examples: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… (齉 and 龖 are also mentioned on that page). @jogloran: If you write an answer I'll vote for you.
