comment What are the rules for using commas and periods in Chinese?
Can you elaborate on the question? I don't think comma is much different from in English except there is 顿号(、) for enumeration.

comment Forming sentences with resultative and directional complements
This answer did a great job analyzing the nuances about the sentences themselves as how it is usually done in textbook study, however, when a native speaker chooses one sentence over the others in a real life scenario, it's mostly about the tone, tense and prosody. By that I am not referring to 'language sense', but the fact that someone who likes four-character phrases may choose 来到上海 to rhythmically reconcile with the other phrases, regardless of semantic accuracy or adequacy.

comment Is 同性恋 considered a slur?
@MissMonicaE both, and you may not be fully aware that the reason many people think homosexuality is bad is not about sexuality itself. Unable to carry on family bloodline, deviated from social uniformity and lead a life different from parents' expectation are all bad things in traditional Chinese culture. Today the majority (at least 50%) of all Chinese people and a substantial amount of urban mass are still believing in that culture.

comment Is the word “以后” in “回家以后” an adverb?
The link is about adverb phrase in English. Though there's similarity with 状语 in Chinese but there are a lot of differences and the two concepts should not be confused.
