comment How is the 儿 ending pronounced outside Beijing?
People in the south or outside China tend to avoid 儿化音. I find it irritating to the ear (sorry, if it offends someone) and unnecessary. Instead of 哪儿, we can use 哪里. Instead of 一块儿; we can use 一起. For most of the other phrases such as 一点儿, we simply drop the 儿 without losing the meaning of the word.

comment Are there any free fonts designed to help learn/read Chinese?
Even at beginner level, you can't avoid learning characters with multiple pinyin. For someone to create a glyph for every Ruby annotation on top of each character, a private class of code points in Unicode would be required. This task would be too immense (considering the number of Chinese characters) and too specialized (considering a special set of code points) to be offered free of charge to anyone.

@Stan, yes, you are correct. In the context of the question, it does not apply. The reason is that the money received is not considered a change. I should read the question's context more carefully.

comment How to say “giving someone the benefit of the doubt” in Chinese?
@Stan, I am not sure about the proper terminology, maybe both you and NS.X. are correct. I gleaned this phrase from watching HK court drama. Wikipedia and Baidu both use 无罪推定 though.

I think in law, there is this principle "疑点利益归于被告", meaning to give the accused the benefit of doubt (or innocence is presumed unless proven otherwise). In general, 姑且不计/原谅/相信 can be used when someone tentatively stop faulting, forgive or trust another party.

comment What is the difference between 看不起 and 看不上?
When A看不起B, it means A looks down on B. B has to be a person whom A considers as inferior. When A看不上B, it usually means A has no desire for B. B can be an object or a person. Both are subjective in nature as it is from A's personal point of view.
