Jot in English has no connotations of logging or recording – it just means to write something quickly and without paying too much attention. It’s true that we wouldn’t normally say, “Jot down the answer in the box given”, but that’s because an instruction like that would be asking you to write the answer carefully and with thought, not because answering a question on a test doesn’t involve logging or recording. | |
