I'm trying to learn the Chinese language using ChineseSkill for Android. There are some sections / steps within the lesson that ask me to translate the English sentence to Chinese, but I don't have a Chinese keyboard. When I input something so I can pass the step, it shows the expected answer and there it has shown how I should have typed the sentence in. For example nǚ
is typed in with nv3
. There is a Pinyin chart within the program but I couldn't figure out how to encode the symbol. I don't want to use websites or online tools because I don't want to leave the program as it also gives score based on time and it keeps running. Is there some sort of table or chart for this?

try to use "Sougou pinyin for Windows(exe)",
for Linux use "Sougou pinyin for 32bit Linux(deb)"
or "Sougou pinyin for 64bit Linux(deb)"

Do you have installation instructions for Ubuntu/Debian? I have tried installing the .deb file previously and it didn't work.– imrekJun 23, 2015 at 8:19

2@DrunkenMaster for Linux I would recommend the open source input method Rime. You can apt-get all the components. An instruction is here: github.com/rime/home/wiki/RimeWithIBus– JamesitsJun 23, 2015 at 12:40

@DrunkenMaster, pal, would you please show me your OS version, bcz, the .deb file is for Ubuntu 12.04 or 14.04, I guess your OS version was old. If so.. try this pinyin.sogou.com/linux/help.php, this is an installiation manul in chinese, however they put images to explain, I think you can understand. Good luck– KylxyzJun 25, 2015 at 4:57

@Kylxyz Definitely not, I always update to the latest Ubuntu version, when it becomes available. And this is the exact manual I have tried to follow, but ended up with nothing being installed. No IME at all.– imrekJun 25, 2015 at 5:02

@DrunkenMaster, No IME? may I take this as you cannot install any other input method, or only canot install Chinese? If only Chinese, maybe you should check about to add Chinese IME in ubuntu....– KylxyzJun 25, 2015 at 5:10
Where are you? If you buy your phone in China, it will come with Chinese input! I use ibus IM on my laptop, it's good. There is probably a version for Android.

definitely not in China. I know that would make no sense otherwise but with todays technology one should not find it so difficult to write in any language they desire.– maxMay 23, 2015 at 20:05
