  • Am I to understand that 士 means warrior, in general? I apologize, I am new to the Chinese language and forums. Thanks! – Jen Filgo Mar 5 '18 at 18:38
  • 士 is a bound morpheme 粘着语素 (only occurs as part of compounds or in certain fixed expressions, 成语) see dictionaries, e.g. bkrs member of the senior ministerial class (old) scholar (old) bachelor honorific soldier noncommissioned officer specialist worker – user6065 Mar 5 '18 at 19:10
  • Added +1 to question, to move to 0. Can we please refrain from downvoting without explanation? While I understand it's probably because OP did not show any attempt at finding the answer, it still needs to be explained to OP. – judester Mar 5 '18 at 19:15

Traditional Chinese version:

戰士: fighter, soldier, warrior. 戰 means battle, war.

勇士: warrior, a brave/courageous person. 勇 means courage, bravery. http://www.ichacha.net/%E5%8B%87.html

Personally would love to see 勇士 used, as it seems fitting.
