I'm seeking a website that explains the details of the formation of characters, by what characters they are made for, their evolution and meaning in the context of Chinese history. In particular, I'm after a website with a significant list of words.

  • The website is in Chinese and Google Translator sucks. How can I use the website properly? Do you know another website as well? – XianLiu Jun 30 at 15:50
  • There is no website that I would recommend in English. You may hear of a few that exist, such as chineseetymology.org, but they're generally of very low academic quality. – dROOOze Jun 30 at 15:51
  • It could be of any languages other than English. No problem. – XianLiu Jun 30 at 16:16

@Stan unfortunately the ENG feature is in its infancy. The most important content, that is the glyph origin explanations for the character entries, is not translated - the only thing that is converted to English is some buttons and some titular text in boxes. – dROOOze Jul 2 at 10:03
