When does 这个 modify a noun, and when does it not?

Can 更 modify adjectives and verbs?

  • 更好,更壞,更佳,更劣,更美,更醜,更聽話,更不聽話,更願意,更不願意。 – joehua Oct 24 '20 at 0:49
  • The equivalent of 这个 is "This" (with the most common classifier "个"), and 更 is "More" as a comparative. – player3236 Oct 24 '20 at 13:40

When does 这个 modify a noun, and when does it not

Uhm... always? It is a demonstrative adjective.

Can 更 modify adjectives and verbs?

Only adjectives and the verb form of said adjectives, for example:

一家更好的公司 (a better company), 更好的 is used as an adjective

别去那家公司,那家公司很差。这家公司更好。更好 is used as a verb

  • Both of your example phrases are grammatically incorrect. – player3236 Oct 24 '20 at 12:57
  • @player3236 how? – 小奥利奥 Oct 24 '20 at 14:43
  • 很 and 更 cannot go together. (just like "very" and "more" cannot go together). 的 should be added between 更好 and 公司, and the use of 个 is debatable. – player3236 Oct 24 '20 at 14:45
  • Ok, I didn't pay attention to what was typed for my first example, but the second still seems valid to me, looking up "很更好" online turns up several examples. "你的爱让我感觉明天永远很更好" for one – 小奥利奥 Oct 24 '20 at 14:55
  • 很 is a diluted term, rarely does it actually mean "very", more often its just an empty linking term – 小奥利奥 Oct 24 '20 at 14:57
